Challenge
The unpredictable nature of snow and ice events makes it difficult to track costs, measure resources, and monitor where and how these resources are distributed throughout the city during an event. Like most public service departments, our clients manage transportation infrastructure and all the operations and maintenance that go with it, including snow and ice.
Solution
Etch is providing a Software as a Solution (SaaS) product to several communities to enhance their snow plowing operations. This Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) solution not only provides a front-end interface for users but handles all the live GPS data feeds and enrichment using custom software and algorithms. It provides various tiers of operability including live vehicle and centerline feeds, historical vehicle and centerline searching, snow event management, a dashboard complete with event metrics, a live vehicle feed, and weather updates, vehicle management, and message management to communicate with the public. Several communities also have a public facing site for community citizens to track the priority and status of plowed streets.
Outcome
